Ohio’s unemployment numbers grew in January in 87 of its 88 counties, according to a release by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Workforce Development.
Ottawa county leads the state in unemployment, topping the chart at 19.8% Delaware County, just north of Columbus, had the lowest rate at 8.4%. In January, the comparable rate for Ohio was 11.8 percent. The U.S. rate is 10.6%. |

Toledo police are looking for a suspect involved in several crimes in recent days. They are also warning women to be more vigilant.
The city’s police department said Wednesday the male suspect would wait outside Toledo convenience stores and scope out his female victims as they enter. He would then get inside the backseat of their vehicles while the female victims shopped inside the store.
Police said he would then wait for his female victims to get back into their vehicles before making his move. Once his victims return into their vans, they would leave unsuspecting that he is inside.
The unidentified male would then reveal himself, pull out a gun, and force the victim to drive to a bank ATM to remove cash from their account. |
